3-on-2 with Two Ground Balls

This is a great, fast-paced drills we got from one of our players. It's a really fun way to practice unsettled situations, stick skills, scoring, and defense. Plus it gives your players two reps every time!

Unsettled and numbers-advantage situations happen dozens of times in every lacrosse game, even more if you are coaching beginners and youth players! This is a really fun drill to work on reacting and responding to these common game situations.

Give your players two reps every time they are in the drill! With two ground balls, your players will get to go twice in a row for more game time, more muscle memory, and more action!

Focus on some basic key principles for your players on both sides of the ball:

  • Offense: Use SPACE to spread the defense and attack the goal quickly. Draw the Defense out and move the ball to the open man!
  • Defense: Stopping the ball is Job #1. Communicate every time the ball moves- who is stopping the "Ball!", and who is staying "Back!" to cover the middle of the field.

HERE'S THE DRILL:
